Summicron 90 and Zeiss 5cm

I tried out my 5c/2 pre-war Zeiss Sonnar lens with Fujicolor 100 film, and I also shot a few photos with the 90mm/2 Summicron. I don't know which version the 'Cron is; it has a built-in lens hood and it is made in Canada. The photos with the Zeiss looked muddy to my eyes. Maybe you can see more. I did not do much manipulating except auto-setting. The film was scanned by the Fuji Frontier machine after having it developed there.

Here is another photo taken with the Zeiss lens. Today, I took another roll with the Zeiss lens and also with a Summicron collapsible 50mm lens. I will post some of the results when I get the film developed.

Did you use a hood with the Sonnar?

Offhand I think the bright beach is playing havoc with the uncoated optics. My Zeiss-Opton does a great job with color. I just got another roll back with the J-3 (that you now have) and the color was quite vivid.

Brian: I used a lens hood, and I suspect that something went wrong with these beach scenes. Earlier results with the Zeiss looked very nice, even with color. Could it be a bad roll of film? More testing is needed here. I definitely liked the B&W results taken by the Zeiss, but I am getting unsure about the color. I posted something about color results with the Zeiss but now I am not sure anymore if the Zeiss was used exclusively on that color roll.

It is hard to tell by looking at scans, but it almost looks like the film was exposed to heat or something else to "mottle" it. I've had that happen on a just a few rolls, but have had it happen. I would give the Sonnar another chance with color. It should do much better than that.

I also think along the same line as you have above, Brian. This is the first time I seeing such muddiness in a color film.
