Hi all,
I have successfully taken apart, cleaned and relubed the moving parts in my Cron 40. However, there is some light haze between the back elements. I see no spanner ring there, they look almost pressed in place when i examine the back of the optics section. Did anyone find out if there is a trick for lifting them out? Or is it possible to get there from the front, after unscrewing the name ring and the front group?

Please no pointers to the pro workshops, I do know that they exist and that they are good.

I don't really know a lot about the construction of this lens -- do you know if the rear elements are cemented together? Might be worth calling Sherry or DAG about the steps for dismantling the rear of the lens.

Should not be cemented, from the lens diagrams of it that I have seen.
I am a bit reluctant to call a professional about free advice for my DIY work (and, I am in Scandinavia so I would just call the wrong time anyway:)
Would be happy if any of you guys did tinker with this lens and want to share experiences.

Do you have the entire rear of the lens separated from the focusing mount? If not, parts of the focusing mount might be blocking access to any lockring.

Otherwise, I would try using a friction grip to unscrew the rear group.

Good luck.

Oh, I just checked Tomosy's book, it covers the 40/2. Yep, you need to get the optical head right out of the mount.

And the rear of the lens is a cemented doublet after the iris, and the final lens is a single lens.
