After a month struggle (all versions of 50mm summicron perform well),
I finally decide to buy a DR. But, I do not have any Leica M body at the moment.
Does it fit and work well with Bessa R2? 😕😕

You send your body to me & I could answer your question. 😀

I'm assuming the Bessa body is M mount? The DR Summicron will work without the goggles.

But seriously, I own a DR Summicron and use it on an M5. As originally built, the goggles don't work on an M5. However, all you have to do is remove 1 small screw holding a black post on the rear of the goggles. The goggles then work perfectly on an M5. You may have to to do the same for your Bessa body.

Hmmmm...the rangefinder/viewfinder windows on the Bessa body may not have the same spacing as Leica M bodies. Only one to find out-try it!

I've just tried my Summicron DR on my Bessa R3M. You can of course mount the lens no problem, but the goggles will not match up properly with either viewfinder or rangefinder. - You can still use the lens at the 'standard' focussing scale, but not easily at close-up focal scale - you'd have to manual depress the ball bearing on top and guess - which wont be easy!!

There you go. My wild guess was nearly correct. Get out a tape measure and a tripod! The same goes for my Nikkor 50/1.4 which focuses as close as the DR Summicron without the benefit of the googles.

You need an M body! 😀

Use of tape measure, no tripod available:

Not very handy, but workable in a pinch. (Note this is not a DR image; Oly 35SP w/ MCON-40 closeup lens.)

I can add praise for the DR Summicron. I had one when I had my M3, and absolutely loved the images, both in the "normal" range and close-up range. Were I to get an M body, (prolly M5 or M4-P), I'd search out a good DR to go with it.

in my experience the dr won't work on bessas. now i haven't tried them all, but a t and a r3m, and sure it mounts, but it won't focus to infinity. goggles don't fit of course. mine (the dr) is an early model i think, with only feet scale. if memory serves me, i think gandy has some info on these mounting issues on his dr page (@cameraquest).

I should have posted this question on the CV Bessa forum.😛

Yes, I need a M body. Great minds think the same.😀

In the first phase, I would like to buy some old Leica lens first.
After buying the DR, the first phase is completed.
(a 2nd version 35mm summicron and a late version 50mm summicron DR)

Actually, I have read the DR page at CamxxxQuest,
as well as how others try to remove the black screw.
HOWEVER, I also find a web showing photos taken by Bessa R2 + DR.

http://mypaper2.ttimes.com.tw/user/tooom/

So, I suspect that the combo works with some limitations.

Anyway, if it doesn't work well on a Bessa R2.
I will keep the DR for a while until I get a M6 body.😉
