Summicron M 35/2 Asph vignetting?

I recently shot some slides with my M35/2 asph cron. In the indoor shots the lens showed more vignetting than my Nokton 40/1.4.

Although I still haven't done a proper test to compare, but looking at the pictures these observations seem to be consistent. Has anyone experienced such thing and what is wrong with my M35? 🙁

I use normal b+w UV filter on both lenses, and I don't use a hood. I would be surprised if the cron is not meant to use with a filter when wide open.

I use same setup and also use the rectangular hood and some shots do vignet wide open especially indoors with side lighting. I think it's been posted up on here before that most lenses do vignet to varying degrees dependent on light source positioning. Try some shots wide open outdoors with normal lighting and I suspect you will find very little vignetting. I compared my 35 sum asph with my 35 ultron and the summicron was marginally better.

Ok that sounds odd. Is the filter a long thread filter or a regular (3mm), thouugh that shouldnt do it... Id say you have a problem lens..

Not odd. Two stops wide open in the diagonal, according to Puts.

All double Gauss 40/35 designs do that at f2 and beyond.

It's possible it's there, but I haven't noticed it in thousands of film and RD1 photos with the 35/2 asph.

I do notice (with any lens) that shooting an all white surface, and post processing that the corners will vignette with Picasa's auto contrast I'm feeling lucky feature, but without knowing how that algorithm works, it's not necessarily that the vignetting is there present in a non-visual manner.

No filters, and when using a hood, only the factory rectangular hood.

I have seen vignetting in many lenses when shooting indoor with slides and white background. And my CV Color-skopar 28/3.5 do in most of the shots with slides.

I understand this happens in all the design and with 1-2 stop down it disappear, but I am disappointed to see the cron at f/2 get more darkening than the much cheaper Nokton at f/1.4. I might try to take few shots one day to compare.

Absolutely 🙂 Rumour is the Nokton is really 43mm, BTW.

Ted is right, digital postprocessing can be part of the problem.
