I know they're crap, but composition/subject aside I'm really pleased with the Summicron 50/2 lens from Keith. It's satisfying to use since I spent hours fixing those aperture blades and the aperture ring, and the effort I put into trying to lube it without dismantling 😀

I'm impressed at how sharp the lens performs wide open. There are numerous cleaning scratches on basically every element. I was expecting a lot of flare, although today has been VERY overcast.

With rough shots like these from a dim rangefinder Leica IIIc, I can't wait until I have the camera serviced and have this as a frequent shooter now!!

shots were on APX400s expired, levelled in gimpshop.

First, to show the flare (I had to really bump up levels here to get any detail)
Second, the textures/tones look good and clear - deliberate exposure to blow some highlights
Third, tone and bokeh shot
Fourth, cos benches are cool 😀
Fifth, sharpness test - closest focus, f/2 I think

Oh and here's a final picture, cos I'm not sure what to make of it. I like it, but it reminds me of a lomo shot!!

Forgot to mention all scans are 600dpi, so not the best of quality.

Reminds me of my old collapsible. A lot of veiling flare obscuring fine detail. Hazy highlights around the white fence (glow?).

Yeah, I agree with Nick I think. Even at low resolution, I would have expected more detail and, wide open, a sharp smack of sharpness on one plane.
Shoot a couple of faces wide open - I'd like to see that. It looks like you're scanning in color too, so maybe that is reducing sharpness that you're seeing in your prints or negatives.

Yea as I said, 600dpi it's not the best scans. I won't have any portraits until the camera's overhauled and I can trust the rangefinder to be bright and fully usable
