I've followed this auction just for fun, and was amazed how high this one went, considering age, condition, etc.

is it just ebay-bid-frenzy? or is there anything especially rare bout this lens?

Gotta say sometimes things sell for a good profit on eBay. I don't think I'd pay $3000+ for a 35mm f1.4 lens with scratches and fungus on the rear element, but I hope the seller gets to actually collect from the buyer.

This version is what they called Steel Rim, this is the M2 version without the goggle. A good condition will be much higher. But with fungus etc. I will not pay 3000+ for it.

I like that idea. It would be great to put the optics of my black lux into a steel rim body but not for $3000...
