It varies whether the lens was built with its glass elements properly centered and aligned to one another .
Then the glow is minimized and the center resolution optimized.

What I like about the Summilux 35/1.4 v2 that I have is that the rendering is "aperture adjustable" ... wide open, it renders like the Summicron-M 35/2 fitted with a Zeiss Softar 2 effects filter, stopped down to f/5.6 or so, it is razor sharp everywhere. That, plus the fact that it's very small and light for a 35mm f/1.4 lens, makes it a wonderfully versatile piece. It's been my choice of a 35mm lens for a decade or so now, replaced my more modern Summicron-M 35 when I bought it.

I've now used it fitted to every Leica M and mirrorless camera I've owned since then, and I haven't found anything that makes me happier in this focal length yet. :)

The 1972 Summilux 35mm is a delightful lens, dialing in softness or hardness with a twist of the aperture ring. And beautiful rendering no matter what aperture you use.

It's such a small, light, fast lens: perfect for meandering about with the camera. ;)
