Indeed Erik!
Too bad this roll came out mostly overexposed, I was experimenting with a new type of film, developer and lightmeter and I was pretty tired when I develop it...lesson learned

I never touch Ilford films no more ...
Erik.
Why is that? Is I cost, performance... ?
I never touch Kodak anymore, they priced themselves out of the Australian market; $280 for 30m of tri-x, compared to $110 and $70 for hp5 and Fomapan 400 respectively.

Bail out the Brits too !
How do I know WHICH 'Version' I have == I never knew there were more than one 'versions' of the early 35mm f1.4 Summiliux -- I have TWO which came with my Secondhand 1965 M2 and 1986 M6 a ' Canadian Leitz' 1966 and a 'German' Leitz 1989
both very 'soft' at f1.4

Check the serial numbers against a 'known' source.

Thanks -- that 'link' as very useful - didn't know about it . I have found out that the Canadian one is 'Version 1' and the 'German' one is Version II' and only 450 of them were made ! Now to take a few more snaps with the German one when I get the opportunity.

Hopefully it is not too arrogant of me to think that you are referring to my photo above as there are so many nice ones on this thread from which to choose. Your comment does appear directly below my image so I'll say thanks anyway and do please excuse me if I have got that wrong. By the way, I like the B+W stuff on your linked photos the best, especially the girl on the train with the headphones on and the guy through the restaurant window on the corner.

Not arrogant at all and thank you for following my flickr link and your comments. What immediately struck me about your picture is the way the light moves down through the scene, I found it very striking, and the look of the 35 Summilux too of course!

Thanks, yeah, a nice lens indeed. I'm not technical enough to explain it well but there's something about the light fall off and rendering of the pre-asph 35 that really appeals for B+W. I seem to only really like the older Leica lens signatures (this pre-asph, Summaron 35 2.8, Elmarit 90, DR cron 50 and collapsible 50 etc) and not big on the newer glass. I don't have a Leica M body right now (mainly MF shooting at the mo and have Nikon for occasional 35mm) so I am able to control GAS for buying another one but I did really enjoy owning and shooting it. Really compact in size on an M body and makes for an eminently practical daily carry rig.

I like this one a lot.
Thank you Sir, you've made my day.
I should explain, I've been inspired by your Japanese film shots for years. It was that work of yours (and about five other people's work on RFF that spring to mind) that pushed me to sign up and take part here. Nice for me to be able to produce a shot that you like.

Thanks Helen, you're a sweetie and certainly the 'Grandmistress of Atmospheric shots' on this forum! With such kind praise from both you and Gabor I think I could die and go to heaven now quite happily.
Btw Ms.Hill, whilst I have your attention, your Flickr albums have a lot to answer for in terms of inducing lens lust! There's both a 35 pre asph lux and an 21SA 3.4 full set with hood and finder for sale very close to me at the minute... I'm trying to resist but your photos are not making it easy
