Wow. Went to a local village garage sale this morning with the goal of walking my little daughter (she's 15 months) while my wife was cooking for lunch (we have invitees today). We've had real bad weather these past weeks and this was a very nice and sun shining Sunday.
Needless to say it was packed.
We went throught the complete avenue and I checked all vendors for gear and on my way I could only spot P&S cams or cheapo plastic gear.
On my way back I came over an Olympus OM-2n. Batteries inside but inop. I asked how much and the guy told me 10 € since the flash was in the bag. I said OK for 5. After a few seconds and without a reply from the vendor I pulled a 10 from my pocket and handed them to the seller, who even gave me 5 back !
Then I bought a small puppet for my daughter and we drove home.
I put in new LR44 and bingo: it works 🙂 Here it is:

For five dollars a camera of that quality is a joke ... really! The most sophisticated metering system of it's era.

My personal favourite is the OM-1 but if you want AE the OM-2 is hard to beat ... it's uncannily accurate and like the OM-1 has a viewfinder that makes you wonder where all the other SLR manufacturers went wrong!

And I meant to add ... the metering system of the OM-2 requires the stabilty of SR 44 batteries. I noticed with mine that the meter drifts as the batteries deplete when using LR.

I remember checking the meter on my OM-2 with new LRs then checked it again a month or two later ... there was a change of 2/3 stop. I wasn't convinced about this until I did the test for myself.
