I don't know the trigger voltage on the 383 but if you use a Wein Safe-Synch you should be fine.

Thanks Sean. Do u know how much voltage R-D1 can handle?

The 383 should be around 7V.

I'm planning to get a R-D1s...

I don't know and I can't recall if they ever published that info. They may not even know themselves. I wouldn't take any chances but would just use the Wein. I discussed flash on the R-D1 in my long-term review.
