I had a great day today... :) After looking in thrift shops and yards sales and under every rock for 25 years, I finally found one, and for ten bucks it made my day... a nice Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta IV 534/16... Will put film in it as soon as I can...

Life is good in the new year. From the price, it sounds like it has been in the hands of folks who didn't know that you can put film in it and take photos with it.

I am in South Carolina who and where would be the very BEST place to have my Super Ikonta IV 534/16 CLA... ?
I know it needs it...

Have film transport checked, too. Spacing between frames is narrow on the super ikona IVs, and sometimes frames overlap. Congrats on the find and price!

Ok will do. I was just reading about that problem myself...
Anyone around ever used Henry Scherer in CA for repairs >?

Wow, what a good price. I payed 19x more for mine. :)

I hope you will be as happy with yours as I am with mine. It is the MF camera I use most, over a couple of TLRs and a giant Pentacon Six SLR which are often to big to bring along.

Concerning frame spacing, that seems to depend on the thickness of the film/backing paper. A trick might be to advance the film just a little bit more (less than an inch) beyond the arrow marks before closing the back and advancing the film to the first frame. Or maybe its just placebo, but it works for me... More info here:

tic, thanks for the link. I am pretty new to folders and have a Super Ikonta III and IV. I have been putting a 2" wide piece of masking tape about 3" long on the paper leader after I have threaded it into the roller slot. I haven't gotten my roll back to see how it worked but I am expecting it to work fine for the spacing problem. I should try just rolling a bit more paper onto the take-up roller before closing the camera. Sounds easier. I am really enjoying my cameras and the 120 folder forum. - jim

Congrats!

I spent $70 on a Moskva 5... which doesn't quite extend all the way (I missed it when I purchased the camera). I've put more than $10 into it trying to figure out how to fix it. ;)

Be gentle with it! The film transport on the later Super Ikontas is a device from hell - it will not latch properly once it has been forced, and has to be disassembled entirely to straighten the bent release locking lever at its very bottom. That it is held together by rivets and very fragile locking rings does not make the reassembly any easier.
