Hi everyone,

As i was browsing through the internet, i saw a number of screwmount Leicas with M42 super takumars on.
I have the 50 f/1.4 and i would be very interested to put it on my IIc. Do i need some special adaptor or do i have to modify the lens?

Can you supply a link? I have never seen anything like this combination and would like to have a look before I can tell you more!

There is no rangefinder coupling, so probbaly best used with wideangle lenses and zone focus. Not a mad idea and a good way of getting inexpensive WA lenses. Some of the Super Taks such as the 28/3.5 and 35/3.5 are almost as small as RF lenses.

Get a Pentax Spotmatic body and use the Takumar lens on it.
Sensible and simple.

Probably the best answer, but here is mine mounted on a No. 1 extension tube and the that is mounted onto a Pentax made Pentax Screw to Leica Screw adapter.

It works great but it is zone focus so I only use my 16mm Zenitar and my 28mm Super Takumar.

I have an M42 to LTM adapter and also a Canon FL/FD to LTM and use both from time to time. The Canon Fl 35mm f2.5 works particularly well on LTM bodies (Canon and Leica) and looks the part as well - see the photo below. I only use wide angle lenses - mainly 35mm as these viewfinders are readily available for rangefinders but would happily use a 28mm if I could find a suitable finder to use with it. The arrangement works quite well and is certainly fun although its a moot point as to whether these lenses give a better result. Although I suppose on reflection that's not really the point. They certainly give good results if the lenses are up to it and most Takumars and Canon Fl lesnes certainly are. Be warned though that I have found that the adapters (particularly the orignal Canon ones and Novoflex ones) are often moderately expensive to buy on eBay, I guess because they are in demand.

Mind you, these cameras and lenses all look pretty darn good anyway.
