Fuji Pro400 and Superia 400 (4th color layer/X-tra) are the same film.
I repeat, the same, the only difference is packaging, and as somone mentioned, it is cold stored from the factory to Pro dealers. Superia shows up in a box next to diapers and tylenol.
I heard this from the Horses mouth, when i still had a hookup at Fuji's Hawaii distribution center.
I wouldn't stress it at all.
Superia works great in all light, and with flash.
Interesting to read that about Superia 400 X-TRA having the 4th colour layer. The data sheets on the Fujifilm USA website certainly show a 4th colour layer for both Superia 400 X-TRA [CH] (not sure what the [CH] indicates) and Pro 400H, which lends credence to the claim they are the same film.
But the story is a bit different on the Fujifilm Japan website. The data sheets for now discontinued Superia 400 Venus and the current Pro 400H both show a 4th colour layer, but the 4th colour layer is absent in the data sheets for the new films Superia 400 X-TRA and Superia 400 Premium which went on the market in Japan just a few years ago.
Could it be that Fujifilm currently makes two different flavours of Superia 400 X-TRA - one for the local market and one for export? Or could it be that Superia 400 X-TRA [CH] was actually rebadged Superia 400 Venus and was discontinued to be replaced with Superia 400 X-TRA (no [CH]), and the data sheets on the Fujifilm USA website are just out of date?
Where else would you get a discussion like this on the net 😀
