I had a date with a photographer friend to visit the Robert Frank exhibit this evening at Stanford University's Cantor Museum. Little did I know that there was a lecture planned for this evening, my friend (who works at the university) was called this afternoon to photograph it, and that the guest of honor was Robert Frank himself, just turned 90 years old.

A terrific moment. I spoke with him briefly at the end of the lecture and caught a couple of photos of him. The guy who created one of the seminal photo books of street photography... Truly a moment to remember.

This reminds me of the old Letterman-Late Nite "Brush With Fame". Except in this case it would be "Brush With Greatness" as well.

Are you inspired?

Yes, I found his direct and simple answers, speaking as a photographer, to some of the questions put to him refreshing and inspiring.

This is my favorite of the photos I caught of him. There were just a few as a lot of people were crowding around to speak with him.

Leica X :: ISO 1600 @ f/2 @ 1/25 second

enjoy!
