I went against the tide and ordered a new X-Pro1 with 35mm f1.4 lens.

The common wisdom is that the XP1 is long in the tooth, its successor will be out any day and the other Fuji models have newer features.

I sold my original to further complete my Nikon kit. I felt this was more important than any lingering nostalgia I had for when rangefinders were the weapon of choice, the days of film, the days when Leicas were kind of affordable.

So my Nikon kit is now complete. It produces the kind of images the microstock agencies like.

But, really, 16mp is plenty for me. I want a camera that accepts screw-in eyepiece diopters so I can actually see with clarity. Sometimes I just want to go out and have that visceral, connected, one-with-the-camera, totally unconscious feeling. I just want an X-Pro1.

Good idea not to wait if that's the camera you want.
Afford it, buy it, use it, enjoy it - goodness knows what tomorrow might bring - we could both fall off our bikes! LOL or not!

Makes sense to me. As John said, you know you like it and time will be wasted on waiting. Using a familiar competent camera is more pleasurable than plotting upgrades anyway. And the price is favorable these days too.

Yep, John, another good point. The XP1 is a lot more portable for taking on the bike. Now, that you mention it, I fall off my bike once per decade. I'm overdue!

I continue to use my X-Pro 1. I'm not sure I'll upgrade when its successor is announced.

I also have a couple of X-T1s I use for commercial photography. I prefer to carry the X-Pro 1 for non-commercial use.

It would be hard to choose between the X-T1 and X-Pro 1 if I had to. I enjoy using the X-Pro 1 more so it would probably be my choice even though the X-T1 can handle more diverse situations.

I went down the same path, and received my XP1 a few days ago. Fuji has pretty good deals on the kit with the 35mm. Before looking, I went to check the "rumours", and could not find anything to buy into (full frame, what's the point ? articulated display, another point of failure). I really enjoy the use of the OVF, and the sensor performance is very good (I'm coming from a full frame).

As you grow older, you learn not to buy too much into marketing crap that comes along with each new model.
