T coated 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar.. should I go Jena or Opton?

I'm sure someone has done this comparison before. I am just getting into S & Contax mount glass and would like to try one of the 50 sonnars.. Any opinions of which one is best? I shoot a lot of low light portrait stuff on RF.


If I find both at a decent price this month I will report back with my own findings. 😉

I have the Jena in LTM & the Opton adapted to M mount. Jena: sharp in centre, weak in corner. Opton: better sharpness distribution but in the centre less sharp than Jena. On overall rendition, Jena give sharper look, Opton smoother.

I think the Jena has more „character“. Hamish is a Sonnar aficionado and reviewed both I think.
