Is that a black chrome Holga?

Well I think its got as much to do with how you carry it and as to how stealth you make it. I have one (maybe I should tak a picture of my camera sometime actually...) of those leicagoodies slings and a gordie strap (leather wrist strap), which means the camera is always in my hand as opposed to over my shoulder/under a coat or around my neck -leica's are too heavy for that. So the camera is always out, always at my finger. Plus I have the Motor-M on it more often then not, so its big hefty unit.
It happened again today this time thrice. One on the escalator in a store a man leaned over my shoulder on the way down and sniffed and said "vintage camera?", I didnt say anything but smiled. The next, a guy walked passed me and then walked back as I was composing and stood there with his buddy and clearly and loudly said "hey buddy (buddy who says buddy nowadays unless they are looking for a fight in gridlock), is that a leica? ...hey hey hey is that a leica?..." I skipped the composition smiled and walked away. And later a girl on the bus asked me if it was a rangefinder "im in school im doing photography, I just bought a leica".
Check my flickr and youll see why I keep the camera in my hand all the time...

Whoa hey, irq506 you're Joe from CameraTechs right? I recognized your link in your signature.

I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Adrian and I brought in my black M6 classic with a Zeiss 35/2 attached to it in August for a rangefinder adjustment. You advised me to smash the Tiffen filter I had on it.

If people are attracted to swinging objects on your chest, black tape coverage guarantees obscurity: look at Wendy O Williams!

And with TAHT image in mind (OMG!), how's about the lack of flash(no, not flesh... let's leave Wendy alone!), the odd posture to frame a shot AND that other eye open! So, you think a logo on the camera will draw attention in 2007?

Most folks are taken by my lack of chimping!

rgds,
Dave

That's something I don't quite understand. If you consider a Leica, or any camera (+ winder) heavy to begin with, how is it too heavy to wear on your shoulder? I would think carrying the darn thing in your hand all the time would be more tiring. I'm not really criticizing or anything, but I guess to each his own . . .

Tape will actually DAMAGE black chrome finishes!

I used to tape my M6 to keep it from getting any wear
(it`s a uncommon first series black chrome 1987 M6 I`ve had since 1994 and still looks brand new)
LUCKILY I did notice that after I removed the tape early this year there were some stains on a corner of the top plate

With lot`s of TLC and cleaning I removed it, but it`s not worth the risk of having acid burn marks on the top plate or body from some black electrial tape

I have never been stopped and talked to about my M6 by anyone except other PHOTOGRAPHERS because no one here in my part of Florida even uses a Leica......let alone knows what one looks like, I`m suprised that no one`s asked me if it`s a digital camera yet, while it`s so different
