Does anyone here own a Tanak IV-S? I just bought one with a Tanar 5cm F2 and I'm wondering what to expect (it's in the mail). I have a weakness for the rare LTM genre.
David,
I have picked up Tanack IV-S this week, equipped with 50/2 Tanar, and 35/2.8 W Tanar with finder. I am ready to load it up with film. What is your take on them?
The IV-S is small and light, and very easy to load - perhaps the smallest rangefinder with a swing open back that takes interchangeable lenses. The 50/2 Tanar is excellent. The only Tanaka Kōgaku item I currently own is the rare 35/3.5 - not a bad lens, but evolutionary. I'll review it one of these days.
Thank you very much. It feels very nice in hand, and shutter sounds very crisp. I will post some images from both lenses, once I develop film and fix my computer.
My only "complaint" about the Tanack is that the shutter release on mine seems to be super-sensitive, just like the 1 on my Nicca 5L (maybe same parts supplier?).
