Ambitious, but rubbish
For those asking the advantage of using one of these apps, the advantage is that it makes the forums easier to read / navigate on a mobile device, particularly smaller ones such as smartphones (as opposed to tablets). Some sort of mobile interface that would not require an app would also be a good choice, but I really don't know what's involved in implementing that.

My recommendation is to save your money.
I use the regular forum site on my iPad with Safari. I turn it using horizontal as it's larger. I wouldn't use it on my iPhone. At my age I do most of my surfing your site with my MacBook. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be!
I wonder how many folks here use a smart computer and/or phone to surf? Since many are in my age group it would be an interesting discussion before you decide.
So I use Safari on the iPad and it has an icon I placed on the wall to fire it up whenever I want to see Rangefinder Forum.
Please remember Monte nicknamed me cheapie but I just followed him!
Would you gain viewers or what kind of a return would you get from investing in this software? Perhaps not a big concern, kind of like me buying film stuff!
Just my thoughts.

At 61 Bill, I am just a kid, and I do visit many sites on my phone (and indeed, sideways is what I do too.) However RFF is one of the more difficult sites to read on a phone. Since the width resizes to fit however large a picture is, some posts require side to side scrolling to be able to read it. Some limitation of picture size, especially on mobile, would go a long way toward making this site easier to read.
btw, I'm on my laptop right now.

I read on iphone RFF with Forum Runner (sometimes it show the"parse error"). With this app is easy to read also in the small screen of iphone. Almost impossible with safari. That' why I downloaded FR. Strangely tapatalk doesn't allow to read RFF.At 61 Bill, I am just a kid, and I do visit many sites on my phone (and indeed, sideways is what I do too.) Tapatalk was dropped from RFF a couple of years ago.
The idea of this thread is to hopefully get Tapatalk back...
Yes, TapaTalk requires implementation software at the forum/server end, and that turned out to be a problem the last time. I think any successful implementation now would depend on improvements in TapaTalk.... Strangely tapatalk doesn't allow to read RFF.

I get this message repeatedly on iOS7 too. It's random, it seems, which threads are affected.
Tapatalk is, imho, a much nicer and more user-friendly app. It would be great if it could be given a chance again.

I use Forum Runner and love it. I say keep it as it is.

I usually don't view RFF on a phone. On my laptop and larger tablet, it looks OK. But if you could find a way to display on the phone, I'd get the appropriate app. (Android though, iPhone is too expensive.)

I voted Tapatalk because it was free, of course those sorts of apps are usually not worth their cost. All that said, I'll continue to view via Safari or the very few times I would look at things on the phone, the internet browser there. I would agree with someone else, Stephen. Save your money/time. Tapatalk, for sure. Too many parse error messages with Forum Runner.

I would actually prefer Forum Runner, if it did work as intended - it is less cluttered than Tapatalk. But the Android version of FR at least is quite horribly unstable (at least on my 4.x devices - but given that other users complain as well, it might as well be a issue with current VBP backends). And it seems to have been abandoned (no update for a year - and that one did not address any on the 4.x issues either).

I didn't try tapatalk with RFF last time it was implemented, but FWIW, I have no problems with it now, with the forums I use it for.

I don't care for tapatalk. I haven't tried forum runner. I prefer to just look at forums using the non-mobile version when I'm on my phone.

Didn't really think much of either...
Is there some reason we should want to try them? Or take the time to get used to them?
Forum is fine on safari on my iPad...don't really go there with iPhone...
But willing to learn if someone can make a case for it...
