The last real camera store on the east side of the Detroit area closed. I hope the owner merely retired, haven't got word. He was unique.
For me this marks the end of he neighborhood camera shop.
Sad, sad day.

I know what you're talking about, two photographers with big Kodak signs advertising Kodak material on their shops, non has film or chemistry anymore.
Yesterday in what used to be the walmart, 10 rolls of Fuji Sensia 200 stuffed under some computer parts, USB cables and such.

Without the internet, I wouldn't be shooting film anymore, isn't it ironic? I need digital to shoot analoge 🙂

My local camera store is still open but is smaller than it used to be...I remember years ago this store was always busy (selling cameras) and had at least 5 or 6 salesmen at all times...
Now, I go in there hoping to find what I need...

In the last year, one shop closed because the owner retired.

Another was closed, it's employees went to another store in the next town over. They still process color film, rest is sent to a lab, together with all 120 film.

There is only one store left in town and they do mainly digital stuff. They need to order film for you and send all of the film out to a lab 🙁
