Tell me that the 50mm f0.95 is the most stunning lens to shoot with, and has stunning bokeh that none of the current superfast lenses have, and that I'd be a fool even to consider selling it.


Or - is it just a fast lens on steroids, and is only so-so?

It's a tough lens to shoot with, but the results often are worth it.

Use a properly calibrated Canon 50/0.95 lens (Ken Ruth did mine), put it on a MP, use the 1.4X accessory viewfinder to focus, use film grain film (Ekfe 25 w/red filter) and this is what you can get. Keep the main subject in the central 1/2 of the picture area and it can be sharp. Some folks hate the bokeh, personally, I like it.

I like it, mine gives a "dreamy" look to images which I haven't found with other lenses. It is heavy, but no more so than the faster zooms I have used on my Nikon DSLRs.

If you aren't using it much, sell it. Unless your livelihood depends on that lens, it's just a toy. If you are considering selling it, maybe it's time to let someone else play with it.

With glass this fast, occasionally, photographs can degenerate into optical gymnastics and skills of composition are overlooked in the search for more bokeh.

well... I have to agree. It's one of the reasons I'm still unsure about keeping it. I tend to do that with the 0.95. I do like some of the results (like the shot above), but it gets boring easily, as it's so slow to focus that it's tough to get an action shot.
