And IMHO, I'm not sure Mr. Meyerowitz produces anything more compelling than the guys in the OP's linked video.
 
Um, what's wrong with using flickr as a convenient place to put one's work up online? There's crap on there, but there are some seriously good photographers too. Or are we just supposed to be doing wet prints? I do both, so am just wondering.
 
I think Flickr is a great tool to exchange material with other keen photographers. I wouldn't although compare it to a bunch of old geezers huddling in a street corner and assulting or possibly even offending strangers with their cameras, which seem to be the only reason for them being there. They make life harder for people who really want to take pictures on the streets. Street photography is hard work, and imo not "in your face". Without Meyerowitz, and some others, street photography would still be in the stone ages. I'm pretty sure that what he does is more compelling than what they do.

Amen! I too am a Flickr member. I get a free pro account from my ISP, so it's a no brainer for me. The range of photographs on Flickr is all over the photographic spectrum. It allows people to share their photographs with family and friends. There are many RFF folks with Flickr accounts! So, if Flickr is not your cup of tea, then there is always many other sites - Smugmug, Picasa, RFF, etc. I enjoy photography as a hobby. I apologize for my previous post as it may have been taken as a put down to the "street photographers" in the video. If they enjoy getting together and talking, then good for them - just PLEASE don't make me watch it again!!!!

Grab your camera and go out and shoot something - except any of the areas/facilities considered sensitive by the Department of Homeland Security.
