Just for fun, what are the terms that you need to use in the classified?

the strangest for me:

"For sale my beloved ..."

another good one: reluctantly

CON US only, I mean, who is conning who ?

What I wonder is why folks from the US are so reluctant to ship out of country. I've had people throw a fit over shipping across the border to me in Canuckistan.
Customs paperwork only takes 2 min at Canada Post...

net to me! Undoubtedly the most annoying words I've ever read in any classifieds. It just seems so crappy cheap. I mean, on a $1000 item, which is alarmingly easy to do, we're talking what, 30 bucks? Jeez Marie, just eat it or raise the price $30. People must think they're really special or something. Hey, that's the cost of doing business. Take a check if you don't want to pay the fees!!! Just on general principle, I won't even look at an ad that says that.

People in the US are justifiably reluctant to ship out of country because of experiences on Craigslist and Ebay. The ratio of real buyers/scammers is off the chart if you look at non-US responses to an ad.

It's not the paperwork that gets me. One factor is the much higher shipping cost. Something that costs $10-$15 in the U.S. may cost three times that price to go Int'l.
But the bigger issue for me is that more often than not, international buyers ask me to declare the item to have a much lower value than it does. Kind of hard to tell the shipper that the item is worth $100, but then request $1,500 in insurance.
I'd probably do the same thing if I were an international buyer. But on this end, I just don't like doing that.

As for the original thread - it's the "net to me" that drives me crazy. I mean, these prices are all negotiable anyway.

I always think the term "king of Bokeh" is going to hit my wallet. Without it, a V4 Summicron might be $1000 or $1200. The moment that phrase crops up, you know you'll be shelling out more like $1500!

The legendary "lens has cleaning marks which won't affect image quality". Let's face it, the reality is, it's scratched....!

Agree......give me a price....... I'm always much more tempted when the price includes shipping as well.

If the buyer is picking up the tab to ship to Canuckistan. There's no loss to the seller except the time.
What's the big deal?
Oh, too many other important things to do?
