Terrible performance from site

I hope this posts. Something majorly bad is going on, starting Monday. This is really the first time I've ever found this site to be so slow as to be unusable. It was tolerable until Monday mid morning, then it got so bad it would not even display for it. This is the first time I've successfully connected in about 24 hours.

hehe.... I know this is no longer a laughing matter.. but just to add a little levity; I keep thinking of Mancini's "Baby Elephant Walk" every time I try to load this page from the site 😀

One click and then sit and wait.

Here's hoping that whatever's causing the issue gets fixed sooner rather than later.

This EXtreme slowdown seems to have happened all of the sudden. I could not log onto the site for the past day or so.. Maybe it's a hacker attack?

I finally got the site this morning after trying several times yesterday aftrnoon. BUT waiting for it to come up, or choosing a particular thread, takes long enough to rival molasses in January.

I'm not very sophisticated regarding computer operation, but I switched from dial-up to DSL some months ago. My experience is that some things are much faster with DSL, while others don't seem any faster than before. It seems to depend on the particular website.

Someone else can answer this better than I - how much do ISPs play in the matter? I've read in various places that the ISP (or Google) knows every site you connect to. George Orwell of 1984 fame may have been right about Big Brother watching us.

I'm very fortunate in that I have access via a number of different providers, and it's bad from all of them. That's the first thing I checked yesterday.

As Jorge said popularity takes its toll. It's always a question what to prefer quantity or quality, in forums and in photography too.

I´m not an expert, but it´s a bit strange to have this record today (previous record 1 year ago with about 430 users) when the site is going so slow. Maybe an attack?

I believe Jorge pulled the plug and migrated the server. We seem to be back up and running pretty well right now.

I'm still wary of junk going on at the hosting company though 🙂
but that's just me.. all conspiracy.. all the time 😀

I read on another forum that there were some attacks to a certain forum software type. Maybe that is what is happening. Of course i can't find the darn article now to figure out which software it was. I believe i read it over at nelsonfoto though. Maybe someone who knows about this forum stuff can figure it out.

confirmed! This must be a hacker attack..

best to investigate the more recent sensational threads on this forum to see if they could have cultivated an attack as such.
