Hi guys,
well, I shot a test roll on the new camera last night and today's morning. Now the shutter got stuck and I have to fix it :bang: . It seem that my copy is not in a top notch condition, but I think it worth the investment in fixing it.

I put away the old light seal foam and shot this roll without it, just to see if it's really needed. What can I tell you? this whole light seal thing is a bluff - you don't need it at all!

Just kidding

I got some amusing light leaks though as you can see.
I put three pictures - one is of your's truely using the camera in a slightly unorthodox way, the other two show some nice light leak.

The lens shows really sharp and the camera seems an excellent night shooter - a fast lens, hefty enough for long hand held exposures and a very easy to use adjustable delay self timer.

The low image quality is due to the minilab's scan.
Any comment would be appreciated
Bye

two more shots-

two more shots-

one showing a hand held shot at ISO 100 (!), the other demonstrates the lens vignetting at f1.7. Should it be so pronounced?

in the second one...looks like you were using flash? If so, looks like its from the flash not covering enough area with the wide angle lens on the camera.

I only used a flash in the first pic. In the last pic (Van Gogh) the dark corners are due to the lens vignetting at f1.7. But I'm surprised it's so pronounced

Nice shots! It'll be great to see what you can do with the Canonet once you get the light seals replaced. I especially like the photo of the picture with the vignetting and the one with the light coming through what I presume is a basement window.

Keep 'em coming.

Hi guys,
thanks for the warm feedbak.
I'll take the camera tomorrow to the local Canon service for an overall repair. I'm also thinking about replacing the front lens element, if it's not too complicated. Is there a way to find an element other than buying a disfunctional camera in ebay and chopping it?
Is there anybody here who can sell me a front lens element?

I know these fixes can be relatively easy ones, but I prefer that a qualified personnel would do them, at least in the first time.

It'll take some time since I'll produce new pictures from this camera. If anybody interested in my RF shooting results iI'll put some B/W night shots taken in an Olympus 35SP hopefully within the next days.

Good night
Assaf
