Dough!
Hello to everyone!
I just wanted to say thanks really. I have been reading this site for... more than a year now. When I started to get the itch for a rangefinder, started to look for a place where to gather some information about rangefinders. Not having too much money, not liking very much Canonets or other fixed lens rangefinders, well... I found my only option was a russian rangefinder.
And I am glad I took the decision!
Thanks to this forum, I learned how to adjust the rangefinder on my Zorki 4, both vertically and horizontally, learned about lenses, learned a lot indeed. I attach a picture of my camera. It has a home made brown leatherette, the self timer is gone since it bothered me (I don't use it and kept moving it everytime I grabbed the camera), and a really nice Jupiter 8. I also have a Leitz Summitar 50/2, but what can I say... I like more the way the Jupiter 8 looks on the camera. Besides that, the Summitar seems to be fragile compared to the Jupiter.
I really like the camera. Again, thanks to this forum, I cleaned it, took it apart, adjusted curtain's speed and barrel tension, and lubed it. Thanks to this forum, I took apart the jupiter 8, collimated it, adjusted it, cleaned it and it's really nice now! very sharp indeed and very smooth working. Not too much to envy to the Summitar. Now, I have a bulletproof shooter, that takes nice pictures, allows me to focus quickly, it's VERY silent when compared with my previous reflex camera, and fits in my urban backpack nicely and comfortable. The leatherette gives it a warmth feeling that makes me enjoy even having it on my hands only!
Well... enough said, I guess is crystal clear I like this camera.
Thanks again to all the people that contributes to make this place such a nice cafe.
Best regards
Bas.
