That 35mm/1.2 Beast

Does anyone have a photo of this lens mounted on an M body?

Thats what I'm really interested in. CQ has a picture of one mounted, but its a pretty funky angle, so its kinda hard to tell.

I don't believe Gandy has a storefront, does he? I wish Freestyle carried Voigltander gear, then I could just go down there and check it out.

bokeh indeed

bokeh indeed

Very creamy out of focus areas. I like the look. better than my 40/1.4 VC

I have some Nokton 35/1.2 shots in my gallery. The one of the foot and the one of the dr pepper can are wide open. I like the lens, but... its my only lens and I only shoot with expired film that was given to me for free because I'm poor and in college. my R2a and nokton made all my money disappear.

I might be scanning some more negatives at school in the next few days so some more shots will probably show up in my gallery.

There is a photo from the front in Chris' gallery of the Nokton on his R2a. Chris, any chance of you posting a couple photos of the combo from different angles. You are now a prime marketer for Cosina, no pressure though. :D

The R2a is roughly the same size as a Leica M.

here's what I got, if you want any more just ask. I added 3 more pics to my gallery, more pictures are on my flickr account and I'll hopefully scan more early next week.

Hmmm..looks "longer" than the Canon 50mm 1.2 but not as "stout" :D

And ya.. THANKS A LOT CHRIS.. .. new guy shows up.. shows off a few test photos with the lens wide open and makes everyone hungry for the darn thing !!!

Cheers,
Dave :)

This has been on my short list for a while. No reason for it not to be right?

Between this thread and the How many Leica M Bodies thread I was close this morning. I went over to ebay to look.... no M2s that caught my eye, and I went upstairs, screwed my 35 Ultron into my Canon P and calmed down a little.

I think I am good for now.

I've got the Ultron as well.. it's going to go on the "For Sale" block soon me thinks. I'm going to hunt for the Nokton and may have it soon :D

Wow! That Nokton 35 is an impressive looking beast compared to my Skopar, Summaron and Jupiter 12. I guess when you need more light, you need a big lens. What's the filter diameter?

Well I've decided to keep my Pancake Type 1 and wait another 2-3 weeks and order a Beast. It would be nice to have both a compact and fast lens in the kit.

Thanks Chrish for the pictures, I thought it might look something like that, the selling points has been the results I've seen with black and white and it's out of focus areas... oh and that it's damn fast too :)

Stu :)

If I could find one used I'd probably get it, but I don't know if I wanna plunk down another $820 on a new lens.

PhotoVillage had one a while back for $600, I should have picked that up.

Hmm... I could always just sell the Leica...

I`m ready to be shouted down but don`t CV do a rather highly thought of screw mount 28mm f1.9? I know it`s a tad slower and wider but it is a whole lot cheaper than said beastie.

I really hate all of you for this thread but most of all I despise Stu for starting it and Chrish for showing what the lens can do wide open...

The result of this is, as of tomorrow, I will be about $800 CDN lighter in the wallet until I can sell my 35mm Ultron.

Angrily (ya.. right),
Dave
