A dreadful mistake on my part :bang: : I looked at the fforbes website. So a 24 asph mint- is on its way to me.... 🙁 🙂🙂. Anyhow, I decided to get infected by some GSCS (Gear Selling Compensatory Syndrome) by letting the Lux 50 and Telyt 3.4 go to good homes. The sales have not matured yet, so if any RFF member wants to make me an offer..... I'm open to PM's.

Interesting to look at what they have on offer; lots of 90s and 135s with hardly any stock at the opposite end of the scale. So what did they charge for the 24 ASPH?

I am so glad you removed the temptation! I think Classic Camera had one last time I looked.

I must confess I was taking quick peeks and hoping somebody else would buy it for some time before I succumbed, so I see what you mean by temptation 😉

Nope! Before a certain good deal came along 😉 I was coming to the conclusion that a new ZM25 at £700 was certainly better value than a new Leica and probably even better than a secondhand one at £1000/1100. The deal I got was even better value 😀 Results from the London Meet soon.

Kim, I'd hope you don't feel you need one of those anymore 🙂

Sorry to hear you're bailing on the 135/3.4 Jaap. I just got a black OTZFO universal short focus mount for the lens head on my 135/4 and tried it on my 20D with the 14167 and R-EOS...definitely a "digital-ready" lens. Can't see any reason why it shouldn't perform as aptly on the M8 as it does on the 20D (exit pupil has to be the same distance from the sensor to focus on infinity). Nice thing is the lens cost me $265 last year. You might look around for one, from all accounts it's 98% APO 😀

But I sympathize with the syndrome although my GAS-tank is restricted by a rather meager budget 😀 Right now I'm debating selling my 43mm-style 50 Lux for a cosmetically-challenged but glass-perfect 46mm one...going over and over in my head if the closer and shorter-throw focusing, common filters, and ability to be "coded" outweighs the useless pull-out hood and probably $500 needed to buy up.

indeed it is. But there were two considerations 1. The M8 will eat into my bank account in November, and there are some limits.. :bang: and secondly - If Leica disinherits one of its signature lenses -arguably their best lens- well, where there is smoke there is fire. 🙁

£1000 for a mint 24 sounds pretty reasonable to me. Sean Reid has just published a comparative review between the Leica 24 and Zeiss 25. Both seem closely matched, though the Leica trounces the Zeiss on price (as you would expect).
