thinking out loud again...

just got the 14 today so of course my mind races to the next lens acquisition...i realize that this drives some of you crazy as you think that because i write about gear it means i can not also concentrate on developing my 'eye'...this is, of course, a ridiculous notion that a person can only direct thought and energy in one direction at a time...
anyway...

i am planning on getting the 27 pancake (unless it's a dog) to match with the 14...and keeping the 18/35 as another kit.
add the 60 to either for 2 lightweight killer kits!

i can already imagine the tiny pancake on the xe-1...

and as far as wishful thinking...i am hoping the pancake is available by springtime...so i have it for some warm shooting time!

Please let us know what you think of the 14mm. I just ordered a 35mm today. I only have the 18mm as of now. Congrats.

I'm looking at a 18 f2 next, if I keep it. The 27 looks great, and probably will be great, but i'm thinking they'll want atleast $599 for it.

you're thinking about the 23 (35mm equivalent)?
the 27 is the pancake ... they seem to be cheap and in fashion these days, panasonic, pentax, voigtlander, sony, fuji, canon all have pancakes

Joe - an idea!
I've just discovered a piece of software called 'ExposurePlot'. It isn't new or groundbreaking and the features are probably included in other programs. But it is a free download. What it will do is provide you with an analysis of your lens use on your digital cameras. You can compare how you use any lens, and how you use any camera. I found it illuminating to see the different uses I have for my two most used cameras.
The program will certainly show you how you use a lens and the photos you take with it.
But perhaps this is 'old hat' to you!

No new info on the pancake at all. Unfortunately, it seems as though it is a low priority for Fuji. Too bad really.

Oh i'm thinking of the 27, i'm thinking it'll be expensive just because. :bang:

looking forward to some 14mm shots, Joe! along with the high iso capabilities of the Xpro1/Xe1 and live view it might be a better set than an M9 with a 21/2.8... and a dedicated ultrawide digital body would be nice to use along with a 35/50mm dedicated M9.

If I weren't on my 1 year 1 camera 1 or 2 lens, bw mostly plan this year, I'd be tempted by those sigma 19/30 primes on sale.

The 30 is sharper than the Summicron 50 according to lensrental MTF tests.
