the back alley lens plan...(14mm pics)...

I only have the 35mm. I had the 18-55 but exchanged the kit for the Xpro. I liked that lens, but I don't like the feel of a zoom on a camera like this.
I am considering the 18 or 14. My concerns are distortion of the 18, and the fact that the 14 might be a little too wide for my liking. I really wish there was a 24/25mm equivalent.
18's prices are a bit low on fleabay / craigslist so I might have to pick one up...

You shoot some great images, Joe, so don't ever sell yourself short as a "gear freak." Your images are a credit to you - especially in the frigid wastes of Edmonton! Cheers...Tony W (on the Left Coast)

Great photos, Joe... but y'all look kinda cold. It was 78 F in Fort Worth today.

A shame I had to be indoors all day working instead of out pushing the button.....

Joe, Louie's looks to be leaning back a bit - is the shot straight out of the camera, hand held and not leveled to correct for keystoning or is Louie in need of a structural engineer? Great stuff BTW. Thanks in advance - Jim

Joe;

All camera equipment BS aside. There are likely 1 or 2 focal lengths that "fit" most of the way you work. Maybe you can learn from my errors? You know that I work as a photographer. At one time (before zooms were good) I owned 15 primes - between 15 and 1,000 mm. I took most of my photos with 24, 35, 55micro, 105 and 180. Of those, I did most of my stuff with the 24, 35 and 55. I could have done just fine with about 5 lenses. I owned a 300 f2,8. it was rarely used and was a PITA to pack. That money would have been better spent on a second - faster 35mm and 50 mm for special use. But I was too stupid to know at the time.

I recently did an edit of 30 years of work and found that 2 or 3 lenses were used for my best work. Not having to earn a living with a camera you have a lot of freedom in your choices. LOOK AT YOUR BEST WORK and use this as a guide for lens buying.

my 2 cents

sincerely - and you know it's sincere, pkr

no worries...

i could live with one camera and 2 lenses easily...i think.

my faves have always been in the 35/40 and 85/100 range...
in fuji talk that would be the 23/27 and 56/60 (add in the 14 as i have grown to really like the wide view).

i find wides are harder to use...
