I think it would still do well as long as it had the hybrid VF, aperture ring, and shutter speed dial and wasn't shaped like a DSLR. I guess like a NEX-7 with OVF and dedicated dials.
The best camera I've ever used... period.

They are darned good cameras that is for sure. I carry mine all over the place and in this regard it is not a 'bad' compromise but an absolutely brilliant one for the photographer looking for a small but potent imaging tool. It leaves me wanting nothing in this regard and I will be doing some project work with this camera alone in the not too distant future.

Gotta agree, of all the cameras I've owned, this one's already my favourite after only having it for about a month. And I say that even though I've just sent it off to Fuji HQ in London to get the dreaded "sticky aperture blades" repaired. There are only two things about the X100 I really don't like. The slow as hell manual focus ring and the battery life. Everything else is just about perfect.
I try not to worry too much about the potential lifespan of the camera, I would love it if it functioned without fault for the next 5-10 years but I expect that won't be the case. I'll just have to deal with any problems as and when they happen.

They just updated the firmware again and this time it is a *HUGE* improvement overall. I shoot a ton of corporate work where the likes of Clinton, Steve Jobs ( RIP ) and others are in attendance. In my 18+ years of using digital cameras, the X100 is by far the best one I have ever used in this genre, it is simply incredible and the people I photograph think I am using a Leica, LOL!
I am going to be doing a review from a "Users Perspective" on Photo.net in the coming weeks with lots of photos, for me, the X100 is an M9 killer and proves it self as being such more every day...

Here in Australia, black version is $1,599 which is $400 more than silver one, someone said that accessories are worth around $270 so the premium is even less than $200.
The quality of the black finish on the camera is superb, also I love the leather case that comes with it, it is just beautiful.

but not in the ISO Fn button menu. Fuji always leaves us wanting more 😉
that being said, i've had mines for a few weeks and just upgraded, reading back at all the complaints from last summer, i can't see why people are complaining so much. this new firmware has sorted out most of the wackiness.

Funny, all three of my favorite camera have been mentioned in this thread! The M2, the M4-P and the X100! (The X10 is a close runner-up for me and the M8 would be a favorite if it was still usable above ISO 320, which mine isn't.)
The X100 is just brilliant and it slips into my purse, so I think I'm going to have to go with Jamie and call it the best (on points) camera I've had in forty-some years of being a photographer.

but that wouldnt make sense. The idea is to be able to select both an ISO value and auto ISO at the same time. This way the camera will try to keep your preferred ISO value and, if thats not possible with your other exposure settings, increase ISO automatically.
Unless it had a sub-menu in the FN menu... that would work I guess.
