The ccd sensor for digital cameras may be obsolete.

I guess that new M9 maybe worth about 500.00 in about 3 years if this really works, as well as all the other digital cameras.

I wonder if they might make a new film scanner with this technology?


Build it as an integral unt and everything will look like you shot it with the in body flash - plus you might get to blind everyone you shoot🙂

They already build film scanners that work broadly on this principle, but drum scanners are way expensive...

They said the color of the lazer was better than the ccd but I found it to be flat & boring. Film is much richer in my opinion. I suppose thats where were heading flat & boring images.
 
Like Mike said: only one possible light source / direction. And no colors either.

As anyone who saw TRON knows, it is a slippery slope from "beam imaging" to being accidentally transported into a computer world run by an angry AI with an 8 bit graphics card. And who wants that?
