The CLE version 40 Rokkor. better than the V4 Cron ?

I really love 40mm fov, i´ve had the rollei sonnar, vc nokton, cron and now i´m waiting for a rokkor which i hope i´ll keep.

I like 40mm length, it´s never too wide as a 35mm lens and never too narrow like as 50mm
40mm also has larger base dof than 50mm which is very helpful when shooting fast.

I use 50mm framelines and get myself closer to the subject...at longer distances the 40mm lens behaves more like a 35 than a 50.

And it´s perfectly fit for portraits since it doesn´t have perspective distortion as a 35mm lens (not much but enough to ruin portraits)

Pay attention to what viewers of your pictures notice and tell you. Interestingly, the only lens I've ever used that got much in the way of compliments from non-photographer viewers was a relatively modest 40mm ƒ/2 Minolta Rokkor-M.

Interesting. For me, the only lens that elicited much in the way of compliments from non-photographers is the 40mm 2.4 Summarit of the Leica Minilux. I'd gladly trade my 35mm Summicron v.4 for that lens in M-mount.

I know I saw mention of this somewhere before. Some quick googling, have you seen this?

If you have a donor camera, maybe you could have it converted a la Miyazaki. http://www.japancamerahunter.com/lens-conversion/

Thanks for the links. I'll check into the cost. If not totally unreasonable, I may actually do it and buy a "repair/parts only" Minilux. I sold mine a while ago. While I loved the lens, I hated the body/ergonomics, especially the tiny viewfinder.

Go Cautiously. I love that they do these conversions but... the ergonomics are very tenuous.
I had a Contax G series 2/45 in 2008. The work done was beautiful (even if a bit unpolished) and, the lens was 100% matched as far as RF accuracy.
Aperture use and focus was very fiddly with tiny little things to turn and no click stops. Markings were very tiny as well.

The Summarit 2.4/40mm is very tempting though. I would like to try one on an M camera as well.

Cheers!

Japanexposures (who where the first to offer Miyazaki`s lens conversions outside of Japan) seem to have the Summarit 2.4/40 according to their web-site.
