Or you can send a Chrome one to Shintaro for ~$700.
This one has been up before. I am surprised that the availability of new Black Nikon S3's and SP's -in this ballpark- has not driven the price down on vintage gear. Once upon a time, Black Nikon SP's brought in $25,000. But with new ones at $5,000, who will pay that much for the originals?
BTW: I should add that Canon collectors are no where NEAR as INSANE as Nikon collectors. I'm sure everyone will agree with me on that issue.

Shipping insurance not offered! That's a bit rude. Gee, if it wasn't for that I'd ...

I thought these go for around $2500. The $3200 BIN price tag seems a bit excessive.

And still unanswered is the question of whether it's merely a black P, or a factory black P.
The fact that it appears you can see chrome through some of the wear areas (e.g. knurling on the trim ring surrounding the RF window) still makes me wonder. Note that PRC isn't claiming it's factory black, so no one can accuse them of being misleading.
The factory black Canons are worth more to collectors than chrome ones solely because of their rarity. Obviously, non-factory-black ones aren't as rare, since you can have one made from a chrome camera whenever you want.
(Minor irritant: You'd think that at such a high BIN, they would have gone to the trouble of dusting it off before photographing it for the ad -- but noooooo...)
