In some ways you are entirely right. Full frame sensors are only an issue for RF cameras because M mount lenses at the extreme wide-angle end for APS sensors just do not exist. The widest is the CV 12mm, which is about 19mm EFL on APS format. To get down to 12mm EFL, you would need a 7.5mm lens. This is perfectly possible for APS format, but you can't buy one yet. The other point is that sensor costs are still falling fast, and likely to continue doing so for some time. You can;t say that about lenses :(
