I'm a rangefinder enthusiast, but no interest in fast lenses any more. The fastest I've ever owned was the Nokton 1.1, even when I could accurately focus it (which was rare), I just ended up with the usual paper thickness of focus and everything else a blur. I know that's the point of such lenses, but I don't really see what I'd do with it, as in, what practical application is there for such a small DOF?
And of course the Nokton 1.1 is massive, probably over twice the size of a Nokton 1.4, for less than a stop more of light.
So, no, not for me...
Ultra fast, lightweight chunk of glass with autofocus....yea that would be a horrible idea what was I thinking.
I dunno, I think it would be "practical" for shooting fashion under natural light. Say...In a nice mossy forest or even dim freeway underpass. I could isolate details and create a nice dreamy, pretty image. I would even use it shooting street in BW. While lenses like this may not be the most super useful, everyday utility glass...they can be pretty fun once in a while.
Oh and I'll even drop the price down to $1499 for this niche "non-full-frame lens".

But you can already do this with the 1.4 lens and the body's high ISO. Let's be real here... you are going bokeh crazy no?

Yea that's what everyone at Solms said about the Summilux.
And then someone went Bokeh crazy! ahaha.

Use larger format cameras then. Practical both for the DoF and print quality.

I could, I was just talking about the X cameras that I enjoy shooting with.

I have to admit, it does look nice.
