I recently purchased a Fujifilm GF 670 and took it on a walkabout in Washington DC. I also brought my Leica MP along. I took images with both cameras and wrote a blog post about my experiences. While I have never used the new Fuji MF folder but for a short time had a Leica MP, I really enjoyed your article about the "shoot - out". :) Thanks for sharing !

Nice article. Good to recognize the locale(s) in most of the photos. If we ever run into each other on the streets, we could compare the handling of your GF 670 w/1 of my Plaubel Makinas.

@furcafe - Thanks for your comments. I would enjoy comparing the handling of the two. I seriously considered purchasing a Plaubel Makinas instead of the GF 670 . . .

Great article. I myself am having trouble deciding between selling the M and just going digital along with the Nikon F or keeping the M and F and using the Canon S90 for when I am really lazy. And now you have me thinking about medium format.

What scanner do you use for the medium format negatives?

Thanks Bagdadchild -- film lives! And great NEW film cameras like the Fuji GF 670 are a testimony to that . . . thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the article.

I enjoyed the narrative and the photos. That last picture is a 'gem' :)

I also like it that you took the time to explain the technical nuances of the cameras, not everyone who read blogs are camera geeks, but most will have sufficient interest to know more about technicalities if we, the writers serve it up in manageable portions.

Additionally, I'd encourage you to finish the step towards a real 'analog man', darkroom printing. I think you'll enjoy it a great deal ;)

I have a similar outfit but much older, that is my weekend gear,
Voigtlander bessa ii folder and a leica IIIf ,
both can fit in a large pocket

@ rpilottx - thanks for the feedback. Of your two options, I'd recommend the second one: keep the M&F and use a Canon S90 (my P&S of choice is Panasonic's DMC-LX series . . . I also use a Panasonic GF1).

Scanner? I use an Epson V700 but here's what I recently discovered: an aftermarket medium format negative holder from betterscanning.com for use with the Epson V700 (http://www.betterscanning.com/scanning/vseries.html). I purchased this unit a couple of weeks ago and it has made a real difference in the quality of my MF scans because it holds the negatives FLAT in its carrier . . . unlike Epson's negative holder which allows the negative strip to bend and curl. I highly recommend you get this holder if you buy the Epson V700 (which does a good job, btw)

And in case someone's wondering: I have no business or pecuniary relationship with any vendor of any product or service. I write as an owner --- biased already because I purchased the item or used the service --- and I want to pass on my experience. That's it.

Thanks for the feedback, Will. I'd love to set up a darkroom but that's a two spouse decision and right now I only have one vote :)

@ loneranger - old is good! And every day I age, I say that with greater conviction.

Re pockets: the Bessa III/GF 670 is a bit large for any of my pockets but certainly smaller than my Mamiya 645 AFD.
 
My adventures with the Fuji GF670 continue. I took it to a dinner party last Friday and experimented using it for an available light shoot. I pushed Tri-X to 800, developed it in D76 1:1 and was pleasantly surprised at the results. You can read more about my experience here: http://wp.me/ph0f6-2R
