hi all, in the end they did offer to pay return shipping and said I would be refunded for the purchase, repair or replace not an option. I guess the original shipping cost to me would not have been refunded.

I battled tooth and nail for them to cover the repair from Metro Camera Repairs in N.Y. and I would pay the shipping, but no go as they would be loosing money buy refunding that much. the most they will refund toward repairs is $90 USD.

I did not want to get a full refund and hunt for another for fear of the same problems again with another Contax T. so I have said I would be gratefull for the refund of $90 USD.

Metro have quoted $190 to fix and service, on top of this it will cost me another $60 odd USD in postage there and back.

Total cost for my Contax T in EX condition about $600 USD ( includes about $90 NZD in local tax ) and about a month of my time. Thats with no case or flash, just body.

I think that KEH could stand by what they offer a bit more, if I was to advertise something I would feel obliged to deliver regardless of weather I suffered a loss, word is bond.

I know they warned me about return and refund policies, they did not warn me that there quality control is bad and you don't get what is advertised.

Im not very happy.

All told I spent a similar amount of time and money on mine.
But after a couple rolls I decided it was money well spent.

thanks Chris , I'm glad I am not the only one. I have alresdy taken some good shots with it ( a bit soft but nice anyway ). I shoot wide open a lot so it needs to be fixed. on both rolls I have shot there was one random frame at least 2 stops under exposed as well.
