The M10 has arrived! Which half-case to get?

Cases by Arte Di Mano half cases can cost over $450.
Luigi emailed me his list of half cases. They look very nicely too.
A&A cases look nice to me and seem to be priced around $150.
Leica Protector half cases may be OK at $265.

Again let me say, Luigi cases and Luigi himself are lovely and AA cases are very nice too...but once you fit a Arte de Mano case onto a leica body, it's a whole different level of fit. Like a custom glove where measurement of every mm is taken and attention to detail too..in every stitch. They are too expensive and I would never buy a new Arte de Mano case due to finances, but when found used (and they can be found used), they are approx. the price of a Luigi case but as I described.

I recently got a Luigi case for my M2 (Natural Aged Brown) and it's a wonderful bit of kit.

Plus dealing with Luigi is a pleasure, despite the language barrier. I first contacted him with a bunch of questions at midday, and by 5pm he had sent me shipping confirmation :)

I unsnapped the Leica front cover for my M3 hslf case, Emile. I have no other full cases for a Leica.
Same here..for both my M3 & M6 cases..and the M6 case..can fit the F1.0 Noct in there as well as the 90mm tele.
BTW..congrats on the M10..what a nice camera!

I am looking for a used half case.
I believe you that these are the best cases.

His cases are also top notch.

Congratulations on getting your M10 Raid. I hope you enjoy the camera very much. I keep all my cameras totally naked. No cases, half or otherwise, and no straps. But I always put them in what we call a bum bag in Australia (we are crude) when they are not being used.

I bought my first Leica, an M2, when I was 19. At that time, I don't think there were any half cases, and didn't want a "never-ready" case. I used my M2 without case. Eventually it got a little dent on the right end. Nothing too bad--but I wish Luigi cases were available back then because it makes me a little sad every time I see that dent. When Luigi cases became available, my M2 was the first of my Leicas to get one. Today I have two Luigi cases for my M cameras, and one for my wartime IIIc.

Somehow in my mind Leica and Luigi go together.

Congratulations, Raid. There are days when I think I may get an M10 myself; not because I need one, but just because I want one.

Thank you John.
Whenever I remove a half case from an M to take out the battery or memory card I marvel at the beauty of the "naked" camera. Leica M cameras are very beautiful.

Thank you Rob.
I decided o get a new Leica even though the COVID-19 environment is not a happy one. I hope that effective vaccines will be available whenever they will be there.I decided to get a camera even with limited travel possibilities.

Hi Raid. I looked at all the well known cases when I first got my M10 (Luigi, A& A, Leica, Arte di Mano etc). In the end, I went for a cheap Chinese leather case. Happy with choice. Fits well and does the job... Note no back cover over the screen. I had a flappy cover on an M9 Luigi case and it was a pain. So with the M10 i just have a good screen protector.

The case was made by "Mr Stone" and purchased via eBay...

In that 'case' why not go for another Mr. Zhou? I bought two of them many moons ago, and both are still fine. This said, I don't know whether he is still in business. Cheers, OtL

I have both a Luigi half-case and Mr. Zou on both IIIf's and enjoy both for what they deliver; the Mr. Zou being more economical of course but not lacking in any way.

I am very relieved that USPS delivered today the M10. Thanks to Brad H for carefully tracking its journey from Massachusetts to Florida, including making several phone calls to USPS.

I didn't know you could phone USPS. Was there a problem with the shipment? When I ship expensive items, after USPS lost several expensive items that were shipped Priority mail, I now use Priority Express. The reduced shipping and handling time has, so far, given fast and foolproof shipping. It seems well worth the extra money for the peace of mind.
