Bill, I'm deeply sorry I didn't reply earlier.
Indeed, we are going to try option #3. But we didn't think of the method you suggest, that is the rating one. There are two under-options then:
1. we vote by clicking on "vote" (under each picture in the January Salon). Simple, neat.
2. we vote by rating the pictures. I didn't think of that excellent option. But the point system seems to be a bit complex, and it's likely to discourage many of us to vote.
So we stick to the first method, voting by clicking on "vote".
That could be problem indeed. But we have three accounts to upload the pictures (the Magic roll, Marc-A. and Nzeeman), so I don't think it's going to be an actual problem.
Thanks for your suggestion Bill
Best,
Marc
Absolutely!gb hill said:I like option #3. Stephen went to the trouble to make the forum gallery for us, so why not use it.
Why will it kill anonymity? Competing pictures still have to be submitted by email >>> magic.rffcontest [at] gmail.comgb hill said:Voting in the gallery I think will kill the anonymity part but I didn't care for that anyhow.
gb hill said:So to clarify things sense we are going to try #3 this month. Is the voting still the same? Using the point system. Comment on a photo by rating it a 1,2, or 3? Or by going in, voting, and the most comments at the end of month wins?

#10 is not new either (AFAIR I've previously commented this one);
The name of the one who took picture #9 is quite obvious too
... that's not big a deal ...
I'm amazed by the high quality of pictures submitted in this thread (as well as in the previous contest). It's worth organizing this contest
edit: after checking it seems I haven't commented #10, though I remember it quite clearly. I should have forgotten to post my comment ... anyway, the point is this one has also been posted already in the gallery. Again, that's not a prob.

Ummm a quick one. Are we voting purely on our own subjective opinions of the photographs, or is it expected that we take into account the relevance to the month's theme also?
BTW some cracking photos up there. Must get mine in soon. BTW are Digi photos acceptable as I doubt I'll have any film stuff scanned in time.

If the theme is 'Family' I would not vote for a wonderful photo of a tractor.

I guess it depends on who is in the driving seat, eg my son? I 'spose assumptions have to be made with regard to sheep shearing and guitar playing etc.
