Hi

I am a Leica user and have been that a long time. My Voigtländer experience is my earlier Nokton 35mm 1.4, whish is good but not perfect due to flare, distortion etc....

So I am curious about the Bessas.

Which one of the Bessa is the most popular here? :)
Pick one as your only Bessa.

Back on topic - when I had my R3A I loved my R3A; but in the end I kept my M3 and traded away the Voigtlander for a Pentax 645N.

I don't know about most popular, but the R4x with its integral wide angle finder can do what no other camera can do (without an external finder).

Same is for the Bessa R3, with the x1,0 magnification and the 40mm-frame lines. Well, ok, CL+CLE had the 40mm as well, but no other rangefinders, right?

I don't own a Bessa, but I don't think it's fair to call them a "poor man's" Leica or whatever. The R4 has a wide angle finder simply not available elsewhere, plus they are not so steal-able, and you're not going to worry as much if it's clattering around your bag. Like I say, I don't own one, but I don't like the snobbery which surrounds the idea that if you can afford Leica, you'd buy one, rather than *choose* something else.

Does it also bother you that the VW Karmann Ghia is called the poor man's Porsche?

Since the R2S which I own and use is not mentioned in your list, my answer is "none of the above".
And I have no interest in owning a Leica.

R & L thank you... long live the screw mount lenses.

and yes, I do also own a Leica.

P,S. Raid - Why not send your R back to Stephen?

His repair charges are, IMO, surprisingly reasonable.
Especially in comparison to some of the prices I've seen quoted on RFF for others' work.

Actually, even more reasonable than Eddie's were.
