a couple of quick digi-pics of the new arrivals.

as soon as the p and 50/1.9 come home the waiting will all be over.

Joe- They are cool. I am envious of the wide lens shown on one of the cameras. I want one for my Bessa R, I can't pull it off financially just yet. Which one is it?

fzilla,

it's my 'new' 28/3.5.

it will, (i think) work perfectly on the canon lll as that camera has a bit of a hazy finder.
so between the external finder and greater dof with the 28, it will be my version of a point & shoot street cam.

now, i just hope it all works...;)

Very nice. Congratulations, Joe. That 28mm finder sure is big.

yeah, i guess it is. hadn't notice before ray! thanks...

the front of the lens measures about 35mm across at the widest and the finder is about 26mm.

Congratulations, Joe! Your new Canon gear isn't nearly as ugly as I thought it would be.

Cute Kids Joe, and I see that you already have a favorite. :) You borrowed the chrome ring from the rf window of the III and put it on the IV sb. That is something that I would have done too.

I have a III that my brother traded me for a Pentax ME slr I had. He bought the III when he was in the navy during the 50's, shot a bit with it then put it away for 50 years. When I got it the curtains were pretty much rotted out and it was in much need of a CLA. I pulled it apart and replaced the first curtain, patched the second curtain, cleaned and lubed what I thought were the right places and put it back together. It works fine, but it also seems to have a less bright view through the rangefinder than any of several other Canon bottom loaders I have.

My III has a rangefinder patch that is more of a light grey tint, rather than the yellowish tint of the other slightly newer ones. I think they made a change to the finder optics somewhere in the early 50's.

Enjoy the new Kids!!

paul,
i'm impressed with your powers of observation.
i wondered if anyone would notice.
for the record, i also took the screws missing on the iv sb from the lll body. i felt guilty but did it anyway.
eventually i will send off for the missing bits.

yeah that finder is dull, i think this might be a good solution and it will force me to use the 28 as well. i have a habit of buying wide lenses and never using them.

it also has me thinking that i will put the collapsible 50 on the iv sb and have 2 very compact cams at the ready.
