Okay, took the camera out to the big city (New York) today and it worked great!
will add photos somehow, but I think with this camera I took care of the thirst for
a Leica like I used to have, these Nikon's will fit the bill.

Hi all,
You know on the S2 small rangefinder window there's a
piece of black cardboard, should I remove it? Will it make
focusing better in some way's.
thanks

Your rangefinder spot will be larger, but maybe there will be more flare too. I don't think focusing will be substantially better.

I didn't try it but I did realign the black cardboard and the focusing does seem
better.

The earlier s2 chrome dial had a larger opening in the cardboard so the spot was a little brighter , I suspect that with the newer larger aperture lenses , the cutout was made a little smaller to aid in image focus accuracy .
FWIW this cardboard piece is actually a thin piece of metal. I've cleaned several with alcohol with no problems at all.

Of course. Metal, no cardboard. And known as the rangefinder mask.
The position of the mask, or its presence/absence, has nothing to do with the accuracy of the rangefinder.
If this S2 rangefinder is misaligned, it must be properly calibrated using the adjustment screws which are made for.
All the dedicated information about how to proceed is available on this forum.
Yet it's deeply buried into old and hard to get threads.

No, I have a secret identity. I just finished the roll of Fuji film and trying out the
Voightlander 25mmf4 lens the past two days I hope it comes out good.

P.S. I love that Nikon SP and great pictures

Sounds very mysterious Range. Don't worry, we Nikon RF users won't blow your cover
That 25mm F4 SC Skopar is a gem. A had one for a while, but eventually succumbed to Nikkor lust and replaced it with a W-Nikkor 2.5cm F4. Post some pics when you can!
