Kodachrome

Kodachrome

ok, I promise, last one until next week, or my wife will divorce me...

This was underexposed, and looking at the slide it just looks very pink/magenta or something weird, not sure if I got it fixed well. I used just silverfast 8 and LR 4 to try to correct the color and exposure...

gang....

rec'vd the scanner on tuesday...

real life kept the scanner in the box until last night, finally got a chance to open up the (previously opened) box.

i attempted to run through all the initial start up and scanning procedures "as is" and can't get a scan to finish processing.

looked for the update, and noticed there is an update available dated TODAY (2/1/13)

standby.....hope to catch up to the rest of you

I have some time today and will finally upload some scans. I will try to upload full size portions of 5300 dpi scans. I have some landscape photos on Ektar 100 shot with an M6 and Summilix 35mm.

Regards,

S.

That is a fantastic cut. I don't think there is anyone under 45 slaloming anymore, though. Summer evenings...

Hello everyone,

I'm back with a first scan. Here is a sample of Ektar 100 (sthot with an M6 and 35mm Summilux) and scanned at 5300 dpi with Silverfast. No sharpening, only negatix and iSRD.

The image (resized in Photoshop and sharpened):

I don't know man... that scanner doesn't look half bad based on these current samples. I'm still waiting for B&H to have it in stock :)

Cheers,
Dave

Hmm. Beautiful image (is this in Switzerland? Maybe even canton of Valais?)... but do the detail scans look a bit soft or is it just the Ektar and not the scanner?

It's in Switzerland you're right, in the Canton of Valais. The scans are a little bit soft because I applied absolutely no sharpening.

I will post other scans, but so far I'm very pleased with the results.

S.

I wasn't sure if I should post this one, only because i had just started taking pictures, and i am sure this is from a cheap lens, not at proper aperture, etc etc.
But heck, I like the picture!

Looks very misfocused to me (the scanner not the camera).

Have a look at this 100% crop of an Ektar 100 scan (Leica MP - 50mm Summilux - Flextight @ 6300dpi bicubic downsampled to 5300dpi).

These ones actually look better, though the grain is a bit to much pronounced for my taste.
Would be interesting to see some wet scanned examples with this scanner. I'm pretty sure betterscanning will come up with their own holders.

Full resolution Superia 200 scan:

looks pretty much identical at 100% than the Coolscan 4000 version I scanned last year. The differences in Color, etc. are down to Silverfast vs. Vuescan I think, and the limiting factor in resolution is the Film.

Thanks,
How about silverfast grain reduction, or very little LR noise reduction? Or perhaps a tad less sharpening? Also, I am sure this neg was just a little underexposed.

How large do you think this can be printed?

I checked the negative and it's slightliy out of focus... I think the scanner isn't at fault here. I will post some other samples, which are sharper.

Regards,

S.

Doesn't look at all to be the negatives fault.
There seem to be some of these scanners where the optic isn't calibrated correctly.
