I'll test it with both format (35mm $ 120) and report back once it comes.
 
OK I got mine :)
I did a previous scan with Coolscan 4000 ED and now the Plustek 120 and it seems to be in correct focus with Plustek.

I'll upload them to my DropBox tonight (The original tiff files) and you can judge your self ;-)

Also did quick test scan of 6x7 and it seems good too.

Played with a few scans last night, Silverfast took a bit of getting used to, but the scans are definitely better. Was disappointed to not find a dedicated 35mm panoramic film holder, but I was able to work around that by either placing the negative in the 6x6 holder or using the enlongated slot in the 35mm holder and setting Silverfast to 6x12 mode.

I see Vuescan supports it now as of November 5th 2013, anyone try it out yet?

VueScan works superbly well (I use 9.3.19).
It allows you to preview the whole holder at once, adjust everything and let it scan.

Speeds my work flow up considerably :)

I have even cut away the next ridge to get a wider frame.

Vuescan seems so much more efficient....
But now I have to re learn a bunch of stuff...

Sky seems weird, but looks better than lab scan on fuji frontier...

Raw scan with Vuescan @5300, then to colorperfect, minimal LR5 after that.
It just seems easier than SF8...

@fventura definitely. And I prefer the results of ColorPerfect to SF by far.
and the fact that with SF you have to preview each frame individually, whereas you can batch this operation in VueScan makes a night and day difference if you have to scan a lot of images, because while the scanner batch previews, I can already work on the images scanned before.

I had my share of troubles with kodak film and sky tones. I found Vuescan only sets the 0% and the 100% point for each channel and you can set the gain, but sometimes you have to correct the gamma for the individual channels (which only available globally). Just use photoshop for that.
This shot really looks good tho

Now that Vuescan supports that scanner I'm GASsing for one. I think of upgrading from my plustek 8200 (actually only for batch scan abilities. I hate sitting in front of the computer scanning while I could spend my time with better things)
 
I actually tried both without previewing the frames (Silverfast and vuescan) vuescan seems faster as it does index and preview all at once while silverfast takes time. However, both not aligned the frames perfectly and sometimes are way off. I use Silverfast as for me the iSRD is better choice than Vuescan infrared cleaning. Vuescan is by much easier. I also scan raw and convert with ColorNeg plug-in

Anyway, Great scanner and plenty sharp :)
 
Hey gang....

been busy with so much other stuff, haven't had time to catch up, until Mark Druziak took the time to reach out to me to let me know that Vuescan now supports plustek120, something I've been moaning about for almost a year!

Can't wait to dig in to that, sounds promising.

I adore my scanner, but it's very unforgiving. Any user error during the picture taking process will easily show up on the final scan. I have been thinking a lot more about how steady my camera is since I acquired my scanner. But it's definitely worth it!

I unfortunately don't have my main harddisk with me, but I had these two test scans on my laptop and thought I would share.

After what serial number are we assured that the focus/holders are optimised? I believe there was some issue on initial release?
