The Official RFF FIFA World Cup 2010 Thread

I tend not to believe in a national persona when it comes to sports. The team either wins or loses on a given day based on what they bring to the pitch. History means nothing to a football.

I agree. This sort of discourse is very dangerous and completely inaccurate. There may be countries where football has a higher cultural significance than in others and this may have an influence on the overall performance of the national teams over time but ascribing character traits on the basis of nationality is a dangerous road to take.

As for Ghana I still don't think they stand much of a chance against Uruguay. Their victory against the US wasn't exactly a walk in the park and the US, while not a bad team, is not great.

Well, a very bad match by Portugal... They didn't deserve a win or even a tie...

Cheers,

Juan

yes, instead of playing football, their only focus was to destroy the spanish play. that's not how you reach the next round.

I've seen a better spanish team though, and the fact that their only goal was irregular (again.) does either speak in favour of portugal's defense or against spain's attacking dynamics and precision...

Irregular? Come one, now we're splitting hairs.

You're right, Simon... Spain is not 100% OK... Torres is not really recovered, and Iniesta yet plays taking a lot of care... Fabregas isn't ready either... Well, it will be a tough road for Germany, Spain and Argentina trying to get to the final, but one of them will play it, I guess...

Cheers

I do not care against who, but please Argentina in the Final. I would like Brasil or Uruguay.

I would gladly smash some of my beloved cameras in a tribal sacrifice rite tomorrow, just to see Messi score and win against Germany...

To see him scoring in the final and winning the cup by the hand of Maradona, I would be able to promise going digital only! :p

Cheers,

Juan

Juan I do not ask you so much, keep shooting on film. Remember the best goal of the history was captured in film not with an 5D mkii.
