THE package arrived today!

Wow, I think I had almost as much fun opening those attatchments as you did the box! Those are beautiful cameras, enjoy them! I'm jealous.

Twenty years ago a guy named Wolfram Umbach ran a camera repair shop
called Z-V Service in nearby Valley Stream, Long Island, New York.

He specialized in Contax rangefinder cameras and had a fabulous selection
of these jewels for sale including some reasonably priced users.

But at that time these old mechanical cameras were just too old fashioned for me.
I was prolly interested only in the latest electronic marvel.

The old man retired and the store is long gone.
If not, I'm sure I'd be a regular customer now...

You know, this thread just says so much for me about how wonderful this forum is. It's as if Frank lived across the courtyard and the box arrived and he just called out across the court, "Hey, everyone, come on over and let's open the package from Henry!" And we all pile over to Franks and ogle the shiny new-again cameras -- and while we're at it, look admiringly at the little box of lenses, and see all the odd filters and the 6x6 back on the shelf and say, "Gosh, Frank has even more stuff lying around everywhere than I do!" And we all congratulate Frank, and I look out the window and see it's a beautiful Saturday morning and think "I should load some film in the Kiev and get outside before we have to go shopping..."

Best wishes and congratulations, Frank! -- Michael

Very nice post, thank you Michael, and all others who have shared this experience with me. I too find interest at the edges of pictures.

I admit I found myself checking out Frank's shelves and table for a bit to see what treasures are around. It would be a fun thread to see pics of people's work areas and where they store their gear.

The exterior screws on the postwar Contaxes are extremely delicate and easy to damage. Especially so for the self timer screw and the screws in the accessory shoe.

I have to assume they were replaced because they definitely don't look like Zeiss.

those two Contax cameras are real beauts Frank.
with Henry's work included, it is not a bad price for the
whole shebang.
they should inspire you to new photographic heights.
enjoy!
