Once there was a 10,000 hour rule. Do anything for that amount of time and you may be considered to be able enough to be deemed a professional, good even. This has now been supplanted with the 10,000 dollar rule. Buy gear for that amount, and you are immediately identified as a pro, by all others than those that have clue that is.

They're both probably about equally valid, in that neither bears the slightest relationship to reality. This is not to distract from a very fine and witty parallel: only to detract from the 10,000 hour rule.

This is a great article, thanks for the link. Isn't experience a sum of mistakes where we learn from? Sometimes I think so...

In an age of digital photography, so easy to have images..lots.
I see few good photos.When i do, they stand out.
Most strangely are not from digital but film.Maybe my taste?
I simply look. Here on RFF a few really stand out.
Experience that i met and have a lasting relationship, was on
"The street of hard knocks". Due west of Melrose.
