He actually was not there every day -- I've seen him near Radio City as well. ("One for $5...Five for $20!" Great British accent.)
I remember reading once that he had married into quite a bit of money and his obit noted that he lived in a prestigious Park Avenue building...but he still loved to sell.
I still own a peeler.

I to remember this guy. What a voice - that beautiful accent. The Kings good English as no one else on the street could speak it. I never bought a peeler form him, but I did buy around Christmas several years ago some Children's book he was pitching near Macy's. I put a photo of him on my gallery that I took of him as I was coming up the subway stairs at Spring St. and Broadway in May of 2006. I will definitely miss this guy - Joe Ades (AH-dess).

I used to see him once and a while down on Fulton Street in the Financial District. Always a crowd around him listening to his sales pitch.
