The Rangefinder Forum Book is Available for Sale!!!

I got mine last week and read it cover to cover twice since then. So far managed to obtain Peter Chou's autograph on both his images. I'm also in the Manhattan and Los Angeles (Torrance) areas each month, so drop me an email if any of you photographers in the book can meet up for a quick cup of coffee and an autograph!

You may have seen this in Jorge's thread.

Wow, this is just more good stuff about the book.

I personally have only heard good things about the book, and always get the same questions. That is self published? How did you do it? Really?

Congratulations again to all involved and thank you to everyone else for your support.

just placed my order, can't wait for it to arrive 🙂

Also great to have discovered LuLu, printing on demand. I hadn't heard of such a thing before now, may have to look at making some calenders..... once my photography improves.

i finally scraped together the scratch to order the book from the lulu site and was pleased to discover that it is in the TOP 50 most popular books on lulu.com!

congrats to all who have work in the book and i look forward to seeing your work up close and personal!

Tell me honestly, what is the quality like? I was about to buy a copy but having just received a preview copy of my own book, I must say I thought the reproduction quality was dreadful. It looks like it was made of cheapy color laser copies. Color was accurate but flat and lifeless with poor tonal range and opaque shadows. My ink jet can print much better. I'm a photojournalist with World Picture News and was really hoping that lulu would afford me the ability to produce my own books independently of the publishing industry. There are many colleagues awaiting word on how my book turns out. The potential here is huge but they need to really improve things first. I'm at http://www.lightstalkers.org/paultreacy
Go visit.

You know something, you're right. It's not a coffee table facility. I'm going to tweak things a wee bit, lighten up the shadows and the like. I'm going to go ahead and publish. Will report back next week when I get another preview copy. Besides, I failed to mention my agency affiliation in the bio. I guess that's important. So an edit is also called for.
Congratulations everyone on the book. Lets do it again sometime. Lulu, I'm sure, will only get better handling photography. If any of you are interested you should check out http://www.lightstalkers.org Several of the photogrpahers there are interested in publishing at Lulu and thereby maintain creative control throughout the entire publishing process. Thank you Lulu for this facility. We will all do our best to help you get it just right.
My site, should you be interested, is http://www.paultreacy.com
email regarding my Lulu project is woofers@paultreacy.com

The book was produced in Colour, which was recommended to us early on by those with some lulu experience. It evidently produces better B&W reproduction than printing in B&W only. There is an ever-so-subtle magenta cast to some of the images, except for those that were sepia toned, but I don't think any of us found the cast to be particularly objectionable.

I had a copy of the book sent to Mike Johnston and he was impressed enough with it to use Lulu for his own book publishing project:

Peter, nice find. This isn't a list of the top 100, it is just a list of some examples of the books in the top 100. I see this as our book has been noticed as an example of what lulu wants others to look at as an example of what they can do. Wow, this is another little great thing. A good way to start my day.
